The welfare of the human species should always be at the forefront of our thinking, but we are not alone on this earth. The whole web of life is important and needs the benefit of our concern. Our own welfare depends on how we treat the welfare of all species that we share our habitat with.

A case in point is the Atlantic Sturgeon which has been assessed to be under the threat of extinction. According to the Hudson River Events website, a status review by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has concluded that this fish is endangered and needs protection.

Mahatma Ghandi said this: “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
